Transcendence and Transience

There is no edge to our ability to conceptualize our own mortality.  It is a receding horizon of abstractions, surrender, and faith in the process that has held us all moving in and out of the natural world for unknown generations.  Each of us must come to sit with our own fragility, that of those and all that we love, and our shared fate with the raw mineral facts of life and death.  We are transient, this is true.  And yet, even if only for a smattering of moments here and there, we are or can be transcendent.  Willingly accepting and even learning to love our soft, vulnerable bodies and their inevitable ends is a way of being fully human.
