Description

Nine years ago, Jen and I decided to leave home in Pennsylvania and move to Maine.  We saw a lot.  Every move to a new place inspired a productive creative phase and new music.  The tracks on this album were recorded in various apartments over the last few years.  Most of the material was made in Olympia, Washington, and then in Pittsburgh.  The final track on the album, “Natural Law,” is about the decision to move back to Pennsylvania, back to where Jen and I started from.  Both the song and the life choice were deeply influenced by a book by C.S. Lewis called The Abolition of Man.

All the music is original, with the exception of one cover song (an homage to the late great prolific pioneer and urban viking, Moondog), and most of it is instrumental.  The mixing and mastering was iterated throughout the COVID lockdown.

The album jackets were designed and printed at my home outside of Pittsburgh, with a 10-tone Canon inkjet printer on Red River Aurora 250 gsm, archival paper.  Each was carefully cut, folded, and glued, then sprayed with a UV-protectant, archival grade coating.  Small imperfections may exist, but these are a part of small-batch creation.  Any copies with significant errors in printing or cutting were tossed.  The CDs were printed with the same printer and inks, and they are supposed to last at least a hundred years.

A lot of love went into this project.  I hope that at least some of it comes through.
